Mississippi and HB 1523

I feel like I need to comment on the issue regarding Mississippi and HB 1523. As a Mississippian, I want to say that I absolutely DO NOT support the puritanical witch hunt that the Governor of Mississippi promotes. His agenda is rooted in bigotry and discrimination against the LGBT community. He does not speak for me. I am embarrassed by his actions and for the state of Mississippi. No one deserves to be a second-rate citizen. Everyone deserves to love and to be loved, no matter what orientation. And I hate to admit this- but at one point I had a more conservative outlook on LGBT issues when I was younger and naive. But as I grew older, I came to respect and fully support the LGBT community. So on behalf of myself and the entire state of Mississippi: I am sorry. I am sorry for the pain our state has caused you.

Flights of Fancy Exhibition at Southside Gallery, Oxford MS

I have a new show up at Southside along with friend and fellow UGA grad student Spence Townsend. The exhibition features work from my MFA Thesis Exhibition and a current series called "Flights of Fancy." It's a body of about 17 paintings spanning about the last year and a half of work. The show runs from August 18th-September 12th. The reception will be on Thursday, September 3rd from 6:30-8:30pm.
